Well all was going well until Wednesday last week when a colleague bought in a giant box of biscuits for a workshop (accompanied by me handing around the Decarb-candy to minimise the cals!!), followed by a valentines weekend packed with dessert and loaded potato skins. The pressure back on to pick up the pace again as I enter the 5 week plan, that is I have 5 weeks until my holiday to Egypt. Not quite yet booked, but as me and the boyfriend have got it all agreed with work, and after seeing some uber good deals with the old Teletext Holidays, I know now that its in my grasp. One week, all inclusive relation with some watersports, ooh er missus, thrown into the mix so its not a totally lazy holiday.
However, to make my holiday worth while, I don’t intend to roll about on my back catching the rays like a beached whale flailing around to get back into the water. This week’s goals are simple. No biscuits, fish in the evening along with low impact running every night to maximise my fat burning. Oh and booking in the fake tan session so what fat I do have left doesn’t actually look like fat….all white and mottled.Yuck!

Week 3 since the post Xmas glitch and I’m noticing the difference now. My work clothes are getting loser and holding my head a little higher. Its not been as dramatic as my weightloss was before the Christmas bulge kicked in, but that’s the big problem when you can’t exercise……winter illnesses are a right pain on the dieter if you need to exercise to help keep you pushing on.

MY MOTIVATION FOR HOLIDAY!!
Well hopefully the winter SAD will be a thing of the past. The days are getting longer and I have a beach holiday on the white sands and stunning blue coral reefs of the Red Sea to look forward to. So it really is pushing on through and keeping my head down so I get a beach body to be proud of.
To help me keep feeling tip top, its not just about what I eat, the exercise I do and the little diet helpers like the Decarb carb blockers but I’ve been using, but also about treating yourself. For example next week I’ve booked myself a full body massage, I’ve had had the odd sunbed to help get the vitamin D back up to healthy levels and remove the blue tinge which on my chubby body that makes me depressed. So think about something you can do this week to make yourself feel great and celebrate looking great!

Into week 2 of detox and all is going well. I’m finally back on the straight and narrow and have my will power back after Christmas. Its been really tough to get back onto the diet, but I think an episode of Fat Families helped. There was a women on there who weighed 20st nearly twice as much as me, so I’m a way off reaching that kind of accolade. However, a cold sweat of fear suddenly kicked in and I realised I could never let myself be like that. So here I am sticking to the 6 rules of weihgtloss engagement. Its not easy, but you certaibly do see results. I feel like I have more energy and without wanting to be a bit gross, my guts are certainly in better working order as well. And of course I’m losing weight!!
One more week on the 2 week plan, and then its back to normal reduced calorie and carb eating. However, I do plan to keep up a few habits, the main one is not eating carbs after 6pm and the Decarb candy with all other meals. I seem to be eating much healthier, lighter evening meals by keeping up that rule. There is the other more obvious habit I’ll have to abide by until I reach my desired size and that’s still the butter and cheese one. Oh well. No pain no gain!!
Oh and I’ve also discovered squash. Its loads of fun and great exercise!!

I’m back after way too long off the fat wagon. Since Christmas I’ve had yet another cold which clung on like a koala on a eucalyptus tree, backed up at work and generally just not being in the writing mood. The cold has finally gone after 3 weeks of constant coughing, and me stuffing my face with carbs to make me feel better (luckily I had the Decarb candy to ease the guilt) I’m soon to start a new job and the world is full of possibility, so here it goes.
I’m opting for the 2 weeks cut down on bad things to detox the body and kick the food addictions I have (cheese, bread, chips and butter). After which I can build back up to a truly balanced diet, combined with lowering my daily calorie intake and exercising. My goal is to be fit and look trim on the slopes when I go away snowboarding mid March.
So here’s the new plan….I’m starting to sound like a fad dieter I know!

diet waggon
For 2 weeks I shall follow these simple rules;
- No refined sugar, although fruit and veg is fine, i.e. natural
- No dairy, apart from skimmed milk and 0% fat yogurt, which is all I use anyway, oh apart from butter and cheese (sacrifices have to be made)
- No red meat. This is to really help reduce my fat intake over the next 2 weeks. I don’t eat that much anyway. Its really turkey and fish all the way.
- No booze. Its not that hard for 2 weeks as long as you haven’t planned to go out. Living as a gym hermit is a very useful way to get around the social issue
- No carbs after 6pm and always ensure that carbs are eaten with protein and 2 Decarb capsules to help reduce the impact of the carbs I do eat
- No wheat. Pasta and bread is out, rye bread is in
To support this I will;
- Always eat breakfast
- Eat little and often so I never feel hungry
- Drink water or green teas 1st before eating if I feel hungry. It may just be that you’re thirsty. Our bodies can mix up the signals!!
Back on the wagon and good luck to all you dieters out there!!

I’ve just got up. Its Christmas day and I feel decidedly average. My head feels thick, and my stomach is churning with what must be the nastiest of combinations of curry and sherry. It was a nice combination at the time, but now its sitting my stomach like a brick. This is the cure for fattism! One massive curry and a bottle of sherry each week in one sitting and you won’t want to eat for a week. I never said it was healthy!
On the up side, I don’t feel any fatter yet, but then I can’t see myself making it out for any hardcore physical exercise today.
Boxing Day and back home to London where I will be greeted by an empty fridge, bliss, my hot boyfriend (bit of exercise to come there
), and my gym so very close by. I’m now can’t wait to get back onto the diet. The good news is that my tyre hasn’t grown too much bigger, which has been helped by only having to main meals since Christmas Eve. It is still sad though that after my efforts, I’m right back where I started, but as I promised myself, I will look to January and really focus. For tomorrow I will reveal my new master plan to shrink before everyone’s very eyes…….
Waist tyre size = 1.5 mopeds
Goal tyre size = Olympic racing bike

Christmas eve and I’ve just finished prepping the family feast. My family in recent years have become a bit European in that we do our main festive party on Christmas Eve leaving Christmas Day more relaxed for slobbing out, reading and going for walks, weather permitting. And even more unusual, this year we’re having a lavish Indian affair of spiced marinated roast lamb, spiced potatoes, spinach and that weirdest, yet oddly appealing of cheeses, paneer topped off with sesame cauliflower.
The thing is I have no idea if this will prove to be a better option over the traditional feast in terms of calories. I somewhat doubt it as we’re starting with onion bhajis, which are deep fried and still finishing with mum’s homemade Christmas pud. Oh and we’ve got a bottle of port, sherry and champers currently on the go, not mentioning the 4 bottles of mighty fine wine I have lined up a family treat.
In short today has been a disaster, but at least its been a tasty one!!

A week on from my Christmas party (a really did go to town with copious quantities of fine wine, pig meat and cheese platters) and oh dear……oh deary me!! All the weight I lost in my 2 weeks of nun like abstinence with the hope of having legs to match Charlize Theron has been all but undone. How? By 2 weeks of gorging that’s how, coupled with no exercise and a bad cold that took on bubonic like plague symptoms, hence my lack of recent blogging.
So its now 2 days before Christmas and what to do about my latest weight gain. I’ve come to a decision. I need to enjoy myself without being too disgracefully over indulgent. I shall achieve this thus;
- do as much exercise as possible be it at the gym, long winter walks or running (lets just see what happens here shall we before any of you make judgement)
- do not eat unnecessary seconds. This should also be effective in fighting that sicky, bloated feeling
- look to January 2010, and as a US Marine would say, stay frosty and focused! You see in January we can act like sad hermits with nothing better to do than be miserable with the weather, go the gym and eat healthy low fat broth
- Continue with the De-carb Candy and eat those little bean like pills religiously after each feed….you can now buy these by the way www.decarb.co.uk
Good luck to those of you in the same predicament as me….

Tip of the week: These recipes below have really helped me. They both contain a lot of the nutrients we need to stay fit and healthy and have good bulk to them so you’re not left feeling hungry after 30mins. The 1st is an oily fish rice salad served cold, so great to take the office. You can also leave the rice out and this on a really nice piece of multigrain toast. The oily fish is not only packed with Omega 3 needed for mental health but is also good for your skin and hair. The bean soup will pretty much cram all the 5 a day goodness you need with the beans being full of good carbs and protein making it really filling.
Fish Rice Salad – roughly 2 portions. Note these aren’t exact measures as you can play around with to your own tastes, so don’t be afraid to add other veg.
Mix of hot smoked salamon and hot smoked mackerel – handful
1 pepper chopped roughly into 1cm squares
X6 cherry tomatotoes roughly chopped
X4 spring onions roughly chopped
2 handful s of wild rice
X1 large teaspoon of half fat crème fraiche
Salt and pepper to taste
Boil the rice and drain and leave to cool. Chop everything else up, breaking the fish into small peices and mix together in a bowl with the crème fraiche. Add the rice and season t taste. And that’s it!

Week 1 and 2 went really well. Willpower and noticeable results were on my side, but then the Christmas party, 1st year relationship anniversary and general socials came larding down on my spare tyre in one short little week. A combination of curry, booze and my butter habit have a tragic impact, but that doesn’t mean I’ll stop. Oh no! I now only have 2 more parties to attend until Christmas day leaving me 2 weeks of saintly eating and gym attendance to get me back on the straight and narrow.

Christmas overindulgence!
The De-carb candy I’ve been trialling has also helped. For some reason knowing that I’m taking this natural remedy to help block those naughty festive carbs has helped me mentally not feel too guilty. I’ve remained positive about my weightloss even in a time of need. It’s a similar affect when going to the gym – it gives you another reason not to ruin all your good efforts!
So what other advice can I give you dieters during the party season? Well, when it’s a party, enjoy the party and don’t feel guilty for it. Only drink during the event and try to avoid unnecessary boozing throughout the week. I nearly opened a bottle of red last night, but sense prevailed.
In summary, you may not lose weight, but more importantly you won’t gain any allowing you to pick up where you left off.
I say all of this now but only time, and too many sausage rolls will tell……

So what’s my progress after 1 week? I feel more toned and fitter from my gym visits. My skin is clearer and I have more energy due to my better diet and no booze. But crucially have I lost any weight. Well, my goal jeans are still tight, and the tyre is still there, but lets say I’m down to 1.4 moped tyres and certainly my other clothes are feeling more comfortable and looking better. As I work in marketing, I have lots of friends who work for various retailers and I mentioned to one that I was starting a new diet plan.
The friend suggested I try out a new slimming supplement called DeCarb that is launching later this year. It’s natural and apparently has clinical trials to prove that it can block around two thirds of starchy carbs being turned into calories. As a self confessed carb-addict, I figure it can’t hurt to give it a whirl, so I’m starting this week and will let you know how I get on. Bring on the bread

- I heart bread hmmmm
!…
